In early 2010 we decided we wanted a Labrador puppy from a reputable breeder, to make sure we had an intelligent, receptive and trainable dog. We initially found Countryways through a Google search, and browsed their website, and were impressed.
We contacted them and spoke to David Templar, the owner, who suggested that the first step was a face to face interview with us. We were very impressed, as unlike many breeders, David wanted to ensure that we, as potential owners, were suitable for the welfare of the dog. Luckily we passed, and a few weeks later we picked up Oscar, and had 13 years of pure joy with him. He was exactly what we wanted and, out of a group of 4 or 5 friends with labs, by far the most intelligent and well behaved. David showed us the capabilities of Oscar’s father, who was trained to the gun and we were incredibly impressed with his advanced abilities.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Countryways Gundogs to any potential owner, whether looking for a pet or a working dog.
