Barney (OFTW Countryways Barnaby Boy)
All-Round Lovely Boy & Fully Health-Tested
Barney (OFTW Countryways Barnaby Boy), this is David’s new best friend, as he has come on so well being only 17 months old and already qualifying for the British championship 2026. Winning his first Open Stake on only his second competition. Barney has the perfect traits of the type of dog that David likes, soft nature, easy to handle, wants to be your best friend, but also has great game finding ability, hard in cover, with a sensible head, natural retriever, happy to sit at the peg with you while you’re shooting, but also to compete with you the next day, a proper gundog.
Barney’s dam is Becky (FTCH Sedgewood Poppy of Countryways), who has qualified for the championships for three seasons, receving two Diploma of Merit at the championships, David also made Becky into a field trials champion in one season, truly a wonderful dog, a pleasure to work and own, and a natural. She has qualified for this year’s championship 2026 and achieving something special by having two of her offspring also running in the championship this year by David. Becky’s sire is FTCH Bucceuch Pepper, and Becky’s dam is IRFTCH Clodahill Fern.
HEALTH TESTS
Barney’s sire is OFTW Bryngwrhyd Bruno, an eleven-and-a-half-year-old dog that was owned by Dennis Dugay who had an amazing run at the championship with this dog, and he tells me now, he is still a perfect dog. the reason for using him is because he is the last quality dog sired by FTW Raven Inquest, my black and white dog that produced so many championship winners, so with this mating we have managed to go back in time by 20 years. Bruno also goes back to one of my original dog’s FTCH Glancarw Rhys.
We hope Barney will pass on both his own excellent traits and those of his parents and grandparents. He is now standing at stud, and we have very high hopes for him going forward.
