The area was extremely clean, all dogs super well looked after and both super super friendly. We just got a springer spaniel puppy from them and he is the best dog ever. Really intelligent and easy to train and very well bred. Not the cheapest pups however when you see them and how good they are you quickly realise they are 100% worth what you pay for them from all the health checks they do to how well bred they are and the temperament of the pups. And for any men trying to convince the other half to let you have a dog, just bring them to David. I've seen him work his magic first-hand! Nothing but positive experiences with Countryways. From the moment you arrive, you're basically in dog heaven. The setting is beautiful, and everywhere you look there are happy, well-behaved, beautifully cared-for dogs. It's immediately obvious why David and Andrea have such a fantastic reputation. David is an absolute laugh and knows his dogs and bloodlines inside out. From the moment you walk into their home, you're made to feel welcome and greeted by dogs wanting fuss and attention. He takes the time to explain everything you need to know, answer any questions, and lets you spend plenty of time cuddling and getting to know the puppies. Andrea also took time out of her busy schedule to send us regular updates and photos of the litter and kept us informed every step of the way, which made the whole process feel personal and exciting. We gave David and Andrea a brief on what we were looking for and left the final judgement to them. Naturally, we all have favourites based on looks, but they understand their lines like no one else and matched us with our puppy based on temperament and suitability for our lifestyle. I'd strongly recommend leaning into that expertise, because they genuinely know what they're talking about. Special mention has to go to Bear, the fluffiest and friendliest resident "security guard" you'll ever meet! He's always keeping an eye on things and making sure all the puppies are safe. You'll recognise him from their Instagram. What really stood out was how much care and thought goes into every aspect of raising and placing these dogs. The mums are with their pups and are clearly exceptionally well looked after. The paperwork side of things is spot on too. Everything is organised, explained properly, and you leave with complete confidence that you've got everything you need. We received docking certificates, Kennel Club ownership paperwork, a vet health check carried out just days before collection, worming schedules, vaccination certificates, microchip registration transferred into our name along with the original packaging, and some really useful guides for new owners. It's incredibly reassuring and shows just how much effort goes into setting both the puppies and their new families up for success. Given the outstanding pedigree of these dogs, I've decided to give our springer spaniel pup the chance to prepare for field trials in case he turns out to be a prospect. I've never trialled before, but I want to give him every opportunity — and David was genuinely keen to help, even offering to put me in touch with people he could recommend locally. That willingness to keep supporting owners long after collection says everything you need to know about the people behind Countryways. Collection day was just as great. There were other families collecting their puppies too, and while we were signing all the paperwork, the pups from separate litters got to play together in the same room before heading off to their new homes. It was brilliant to watch, and it definitely made the journey home that little bit easier. A big shout out to Becky, Nico, Andrea and David, and any other members of the team we've missed. Every single one of you has been an absolute pleasure to deal with, and your passion and care really shine through. More than anything, we're just so excited for what's ahead. Bringing this little one home is the start of something special, and we honestly can't wait to get stuck in and raise our new best mate. Sophie was so lovely to deal with from the start—really friendly and always happy to chat through any questions (and I had a few!). She made everything feel really easy and you can tell how much they care about the dogs and where they go. Larry has settled in so well with us and has the nicest temperament. He’s been such a joy to have around and everyone comments on how lovely he is. It’s clear he had a great start before coming home. We are absolutely devastated and completely appalled by our experience with this place. We placed a £500 deposit on a brown and black only cocker puppy when he was just one week old, making it very clear that this was the specific dog we wanted — not any other puppy. Over the past 5 weeks, she sent us a few pictures and videos of the puppy, which reassured us that he was ours. We even went to see him in person and reconfirmed that this was the exact dog we wanted to bring into our family. Despite this, communication throughout the process was poor, with messages often ignored or delayed. Then, after weeks of updates, reassurance, and emotional attachment, we were suddenly told the puppy had been sold to somebody else anyway. Our family is heartbroken. You cannot take a deposit, allow a family to bond with a puppy, confirm it is theirs, and then sell it elsewhere with such little care or professionalism. Considering the puppy was priced at £2,500, the lack of organisation, communication, and basic respect shown to us is completely unacceptable. Choosing Countryways Gundogs was one of the best decisions we made, and the whole experience exceeded our expectations. Our springer spaniel, Rocko, is now five months old and he is the most wonderful dog and a truly perfect addition to our family. He has settled in so well, and that is very much down to the care, guidance and support we received from the Countryways team. From our very first conversation right through to taking Rocko home, David was brilliant. He shared so many helpful tips, advice and reassurance, and nothing ever felt rushed or transactional. Sophie was equally lovely and supportive, and together they clearly put so much time, love and attention into raising their pups properly. The whole experience was genuinely enjoyable, and it is obvious how well the puppies are looked after. Rocko is loving, friendly, confident and incredibly intelligent, which speaks volumes about the care and environment he came from. We are so glad we chose Countryways. We recently collected our new pup Smudge ESS from Countryways. We were nervous as we had travelled a considerable distance without seeing him. We were met by David who immediately put us at ease. His depth of knowledge on gundogs and his personable approach was warm and welcoming. We were provided an extensive puppy pack/information which was detailed but clear. Smudge is an absolute delight, his temperament and trainability are exceptional and testament to a first class breeder who is passionate about dogs. We will look to compete with Smudge in the future like so many of the FTCHs in his pedigree.
